How To Screen Shot on Chromebook: You can take a screenshot or record a video of your Chromebook's screen After you capture your screen, you can view, edit, delete and share the image or video.
How To Screen Shot on Chromebook
- To Capture the ENTIRE Screen,
- Hit CTRL+SWITCH WINDOW, Located top middle of the keyboard.
- The Image Saves to the downloads Folder Whether Online Or Off.
- To capture just a portion of the screen,
- Hit CTRL+SHIFT+SWITCH WINDOW
- The Cursor will temporarily turn into a CROSS-HAIR.
- The CLICK & DRAG is a square across the portion of the screen.
- The Partial screen image will save to the DOWNLOADS FOLDER.
- IF you're using an external STANDARD keyboard.
- You won't have SWITCH SCREEN but F5 is the Equivalent.
- Now start clipping, snipping, and saving those screenshots.
Tip: Screenshots and recordings are automatically copied to your clipboard.
- Take a screenshot
- Press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows.
- In the menu below, select the screenshot.
- Select either one:
- Take a full-screen screenshot.
- Take a partial screenshot.
- Take a window screenshot.
Tip: You can also take a screenshot with the menu at the bottom right.
- Select time.
- Select Screen Capture.
- Record your screen
- Press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows.
- In the menu below, select Screen Record.
- Select either one:
- Fullscreen record.
- A partial screen record.
- Record a window.
To stop recording, at the bottom right, select Stop recording.
- Find recordings and screenshots
- Recordings and screenshots are stored in your "Downloads" folder. You can change where your recordings or screenshots are stored:
- Press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows.
Below, select Settings Settings, and then select Folder. The recordings or screenshots you take are added to your selected folder.

Step 1
Quickly go to Settings and select "Screen Capture"
Make sure the content you want to capture is on your screen
Step 2
In the Screen Capture tool, select whether you want to capture all your screens, a single window, or a specific part of your screen.
You can also choose to record some or all of your screens.
Step 3
After you make your selection, click "Capture" on the screen.
Step 4
Once completed, the screenshot or recording will be displayed on your shelf and will be automatically copied to your clipboard.
